More Room to Move…

Yes, it’s true – those of you hosted with Blogomania got an extra 50mb for your accounts (or 5mb if you are on the mini plan) and increased bandwidth on October 1. Whoo hoo! More room to move! More room for Jennifer to post hot, steaming photos of Vin! Mmmm…

The increases aren’t listed on the rates page yet – they will be by the end of the weekend. All of the details are in the announcements section of the forum though right now.

Who loves you, baby? Blogomania does!

Get Chatting with Skype!

This is a link that I would normally post over there in my sidebar in the “Cookie Crumbs” microblog, but considering I haven’t really heard any buzz about it at all lately, I wanted to post it in my main blog instead, just to get your attention. Check out Skype. Why? Because it is the “phenomenon from the people who brought you KaZaA.” One small difference – instead of sharing files, you’ll be making free phone calls over a P2P network. They just have to have Skype too. (Oh, and a computer with a microphone.) Check it out and learn what Skype is all about! [via Craig and the Captivate TV screens in my elevator at work.]

Has anyone tried it? I have used other free phone services in the past through the Internet, but that was before the Dot Com Bust, and those companies are long gone. I think this looks pretty cool and definitely worth checking out. Who wants to Skype with me?

Blogroll Dustbunnies…

I’m clearing out the dust bunnies on my blogroll, and I’m splitting it all up to bloggers I have met in person and bloggers that I dream of meeting in person someday. I’ve noticed that that meets my blog surfing needs better and it’s how I have my RSS feeds set up too. If you notice anything wonky going on around here, don’t worry. It’s just me screwing everything up.

Wicked Cool!

It’s interesting to observe the life cycle of a blogger. When you first start to blog, you find all of these sites that are new to you, all of these cool ideas, all of these great widgets and so forth. You link to others and leave comments, hoping that someone will notice you.

As time goes on, you become more a part of the community. There are the sites you read daily, and you feel as if they are your best friends, even if you have never met yet. You become part of a social circle – or many social circles. You meet people, you participate in the good, and sometimes in the bad.

Somewhere in there, some people quit blogging all together. Others continue on, although their format and their style may change. They may open up more, or less. Most of the time, you can spot the more seasoned blogger. Hopefully they handle things differently, and most notable is that the things that matter shift over time. It is truly interesting to observe.

One of the things I remember wishing for long ago, when I first started to blog, was to be picked as a “Best of the Cool Daily Pick.” A site much older than this blog, it has been around since 1997. 6 years is forever in Internet terms. Joe Jenett has had other projects that I have participated in, including the Ageless Project. He also had a portal site that is now gone which I linked to for a long time. Basically, he is one of the “old school” people online to me – the ubercool that you can’t help but admire. Faith, Patti, and Miz Kitty are also in this category for me, in case you wondered – people that I thought were hip before I even had my very first web page, long before this blog.

As a fairly seasoned blogger, there aren’t too many milestones left for me. I’ve met a lot of bloggers and I’ve done a lot of things. Today I hit a new milestone though, one I had almost given up on in a way. It feels so good and I am absolutely giddy to learn that I was picked as today’s Best of the Cool Daily Pick! I know it may not seem like much to anyone else, but for me it has been a long time dream. Sometimes it is the little things that bring you great amounts of joy.

Thank you Joe for the honor. I am truly touched by your kind and flattering words.

D is Back! D is Back!

I’m simply giddy with glee to see that D has returned to Acerbia! Man, I need to call Mike to let him know in case he doesn’t already. I wonder how long it will be before they are plotting about mechanical cyborg squirrels that spy on people and things like that…

Now, thanks to D, I can learn all about how to be an Evil Genius. After today, my title of being “Pure Evil” just isn’t good enough. I need to be an “Evil Genius” fast!

On a separate but somehow related note (just don’t ask me how because I’m not sure), I am now the proud owner of Lord of The Rings – Two Towers on DVD. And while I know better, I am really tempted to stay up for 3 hours to watch it. I will resist, but only because I want to watch the first one again before I watch the second one – a little LoTR marathon!
