Psst… Over Here…

Yes, yes, I’m alive and well. Jish is in Houston visiting, and Mike & I had dinner with him Tuesday night after he arrived in Houston, and last night we had a great H-Town Blogs gathering with Jish as our “guest of honor”. Good times, good times. Too busy tonight working on Blogomania things though to stop and focus on writing about it. Soon. With pictures.

I knew I had better stop and make a post though when Sandi, a former co-worker and a friend of mine for many years that keeps up with me through my blog, e-mailed me today to make sure I was ok! I find that very comforting though that she checked on me like that.

Thank you to everyone that came out last night for dinner, and for those that couldn’t make it – we missed you!

Processing the Blog…

Have you ever stopped to really think about the blogging process? I mean, really analyze the process? It’s pretty interesting when you do. I’ve been thinking of all the factors and how they effect my blog lately, which is why I want to redesign and change things around – and at the same time I don’t. Change can be very good – and sometimes it can be bad. In the end, how accurate do you think the blogging process is? Where do you think blogging is headed? [via Meryl]

Mmm… Tasty Feeds…

If you’re not using RSS, you should be. If you need more RSS resources and information, Chris has hooked us up once again with the Lockergnome RSS Resource. RSS is a great tool for keeping up with not only the news but also blogs, and I can’t say enough good things about it – no matter what flavor of RSS you use. In case you were wondering, my feed reader of choice is Newzcrawler. [via Adam.]

As for my RSS Evangelism – Sam Ruby says it very well. Don’t tease us with a short little excerpt of your latest post, give it all to us. Otherwise you will be relegated to my “short posts” directory in NewzCrawler, the one I only check once every week or two. I know that matters to you, right? (Yeah, sure it does.) If you need more help with RSS, check out ScriptyGoddess. Or just ask – I’m happy to help where I can.

Blogging at Borders…

Yesterday we took the Duck Tour of Boston, saw all the sites from the road under a cover to keep us dry in the rain. After that we walked through the North End, saw the Old North Church (one if by land, two if by sea…) and made a stop at Mike’s Pastry to get marzapan and a few cannoli. (Cannolis? Whatever.) Then there was the hour long detour of seeing parts of Boston we didn’t plan to see in the hunt for the Mass Pike.

Today has been much better. We drove in to the city and parked at the Harbor Garage. Right as we were about to park, Stacey called to see if we wanted to do lunch. We decided to meet up at the statue of Sam Adams. Griff was with her, so Jason was happy to have someone to talk to about video games. We decided to walk back to the North End for the infamous Regina Pizza, which is sooooooo good. I’ve never had it before, but now I understand why everyone raves about it! After that we walked over to Modern Pastry, then to the Paul Revere statue by the Old North Church. Back down Hannover to get some gelato, then across Haymarket to the Holocaust memorial. From there we walked past the City Hall (the absolute ugliest building in all of Boston) and then to the Kings Chapel Burial Grounds and the Granury Cemetary. After quick tours of both of those (really, how many headstones does one need to see?) we went to the Boston Common, where Stacey & Griff left us for the Red Line to home. We walked through the park to the Public Gardens, where we road the swan boats. One of those things we just couldn’t pass up, and since the weather was cooperating more today, they were running. Yesterday with the rain, they were closed. A stroll through the Public Gardens, and I finally got to see the “Make Way for Ducklings” ducks. Around the pond, I snapped photos of the statue of Washington with city in the background. Back through the Gardens and the Common, we headed on over to Downtown Crossing, which is where we are now. Blogging at Borders. Jason is reading a book, and Mike has found some Celtic music CDs that he has been looking for. I am happy to just have a break in walking.

Now it’s time to head back to the car, hop on to 93 to the Mass Pike (I know where I am going this time) and head to Jenn’s. Our last night in Boston… do we really have to go home?

Snapshots from throughout the day in the Moblog. I’ve been adding them as we go.

H-Town Met Beantown!

What a wonderful day yesterday was! After a trip to park in Cambridge, take the T to Boston, eat, take the T back to Cambridge and find Redline, the event site, we had the chance to meet up with so many WONDERFUL people! (And really miss the people that couldn’t make it…)

In attendance were:
(In the same random order I wrote them down in)
:: Stacey
:: Shelley
:: Jennifer
:: Laura
:: Marshall (I need to fix that … I can’t read the last part of the address.)
:: Geoffrey, sporting a nice kilt!
:: Jennifer
:: Alisa
:: Jay Jason
:: Erika
:: Steve
:: Sage
:: Brian
:: Sooz, who was a huge help in coordinating things with Redline.

:: Lorissa
:: Mike
:: (The other) Christine
:: (The other) Mike (also known collectively as “The other Christine and Mike”)
:: Paul
:: Leo, who will soon have a blog
:: Michelle

I think that’s everyone. They all scowled over having to put on nametags, but at least I wasn’t stuck asking them 10 times each what their names are!

Thank you to EVERYONE for coming out. It was so great to put faces to names, to meet new people, to talk to everyone, and … well, everything! I wish we could have stayed out later, but we were so tired after the night before. Otherwise I would have stayed out all night!
