Gig ‘Em, Aggies!

Unlike some people I know, I don’t normally pay a lot of attention to college football – but Thanksgiving just wouldn’t be complete without a little Aggie football! (Does it count if I’m really watching the game because I want to see the Aggie Band?) Gig’em, Aggies! Beat The Hell Outta t.u.!

If You Need a Book…

Most books about blogging sound really good and I would love to read them. But Teach Yourself Blogging in 24 Hours? Hmmm… Something just seems really wrong about this. Maybe it’s because it sounds like they are trying to pigeonhole blogging in to something that has a right and a wrong way to do it? Because if you ask me, blogging is a fluid thing – changing, growing, moving with the person that is writing the blog. And if you need to be taught how to do it … well, that just bugs me. I know it’s the title of the Sams book series, but still. [via Biz Stone]

Here, let me save you $25 – if you want to blog, go to Blogger and sign up for an account. Pick a spot for your site over at Blogspot. There you are! You’re blogging! Now make what you want to of it – don’t listen to anyone else about how it should be done. Later if you want to change what blog software you use, where you are hosted, or your design – go for it! You can learn how to do all of that online. Those of us that have been doing this for a long time didn’t have a book to teach us how, and I personally think we’re better for it! (Now, if you would like to send that $25 to me, I’d be happy to give you my address.)

I’ve Got a Golden Ticket!

I’m so excited! I get to go to see Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets later today! Just like last year, we decided to go on opening day – and I can’t wait! Are you going to go see it? When are you going to go?

Someday You’ll Find It…

Thanks to Dick, I discovered that today is the 25th Anniversary of the first “Muppet Show”. Wow – what a flood of memories that brings back. I have always loved the Muppets. Then again, I was truly a “Sesame Street” kid, since that show first aired the year I was born.

I remember when the Muppets came on the air. My Dad & I used to watch it together every week, and when the first “Muppet Movie” came out in the theaters, he took me and my best friend to go see it. (He also took us to see “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band” with the Bee Gees, but that’s a story for another day.)

I still know all of the words to “The Rainbow Connection” and probably every other song in the movie too. When my parents finally got a stereo for our home, they gave me a “Muppet Movie” soundtrack album. I was so puzzled – we didn’t have a record player… until they went out to the garage and got it out of the trunk of the car! Countless hours were spent listening to that album. Now, thanks to ed k., I have a copy of the movie on DVD too – and I must watch it soon!

Happy Anniversary, Muppets! Thanks for the years of laughter and fun!

All My Life…

I’m so excited! I just found out that John Freyer of All My Life For Sale will be on the Screensavers tonight! Kudos to Mike for pointing it out to me! I met John at SXSW last year thanks to Barkingmoose Mike. I think he was one of the most interesting people I met while I was there, so I can’t wait to see him on the Tivo! I can’t wait to check out the book too; he was really excited about it when he talked about it last spring and I’ve added it to my list of things for Santa to bring me this year!
