Second Leg…

All caught up now! I just finished watching the second leg of The Amazing Race. This summary is dedicated to Donna, who accidentally didn’t record the show.

I think it’s interesting that they are showing little clips of the teams mingling with each other during the pit stop. They haven’t really done that in the past seasons, at least not like this. I think it’s important to remember though that there is some down time in the race. I’m sure it effects the whole group dynamic.

Spoilers ahead – you’ve been warned!

The First Leg…

It’s only taken me a week to finally get around to watching the first leg of The Amazing Race which aired last Wednesday. I was too busy that night getting the update on Hurricane Lili and coordinating dinner plans with Jish for the next night.

I thought the first leg was pretty good, the team *I* would have picked didn’t lose, and … I took notes. If you want to know what happened, read on… (Obviously, there are spoilers there. Don’t read them if you don’t want them.)

Now I’m watching the second leg of TAR from tonight, so I’ll be summing that up too. More to come soon.

I Could Do That…

Since I was complaining (again) about Texas earlier, I should point out the Government Guide to the Most Livable States. The states I would move to within a heartbeat if I could are Minnesota and Massachusetts – which came in at number 1 and number 5 respectively. Texas? 29. You can view the 43 Negative and Positive Factors that they used to come up with the results if you are interested. [via Silflay Hraka … again.]

At least I don’t live in Louisiana or Mississippi though… they are at 49 and 50 on the list. Guess someone has to be last. So, where would you live if you could pick any state to live in?

Hate State…

I am so proud. Texas has 50 hate groups in the state. Yes, 50. One of 3 states with more than 40 listed. [via Silfray Hraka]

Did I ever mention that I had a blind date in High School with a Neo-Nazi? Yes, and it freaked me out too. My friend David set me up with one of his friends. Nice guy when I talked to him, cute when I first met him. Then we start talking… and he tells me that while he had reservations about going out with me because I am Catholic, he decided it was ok because I had blonde hair, blue eyes, and I was definitely part of the Aryan race. Whathuh??? Yes. I met his Aryan race criteria. However, he was disappointed when I told him that he was insane and that I felt that his beliefs were off the scale as far as being wrong. Simply insane.

The date ended shortly after that and I refused to ever speak to him again. I yelled at David because there was no way he didn’t know how the guy felt, and he should have known better than to set me up with him. Yes, my one fledgling encounter with a Neo-Nazi. Thankfully, it was my last.

In My Travels…

Woke up early this morning (rather surprising considering I stayed up way too late last night) and decided it was time to catch up on reading some of the blogs out there.

I head on over to Michele’s site. She was kind enough to point out SiflayHraka, who sums up posts from around the blog world all in one place. For people like me this is great, I just don’t have time to read them all.

At Siflay Hraka’s site I discovered a lovely gem titled “For Good Health: Please Wash Your Hands”. Oh my. I simply wish I had thought of what Sour Bob did. People not washing their hands in a public bathroom really gets to me. I used to work with an uber-professional woman years ago – and I lost all respect for her the day I realized she never washed her hands – not even as she was heading off to lunch. Come on people, you’re spreading cooties here! Wash ’em up! I don’t want your germs! Ewwww… ICK!

Speaking of restaurants, after I wrapped up the stuff I’ve been working on this past week to help out Jennifer, I went to get a late bite to eat with Mike. Here we are at T.G.I.Friday’s, and I realize that there is this rather old couple at the table across from us. Old old old. The sort of people that you normally find at the 4pm lunch rush at Golden Corral, not at Friday’s well after 10pm at night. I was puzzled. Bewildered. Amused. I just couldn’t figure out why they were there so late … and then it finally came to me. They were there for breakfast! *bada-boom!* (Ok, so maybe you just had to be there…) Why is it that the older people get, the earlier they eat though? Who needs to eat dinner at 4pm? And do you think they washed their hands?
