I decided to watch a few minutes of the Academy Awards and caught Cathering Zeta-Jones winning the best supporting actress. I haven’t seen “Chicago” yet, but I’ve heard great things about her part in the movie, so I’m not surprised she won. But what’s up with the instant replay after the thank you speech? She accepted her award and was walking off the stage, and they cut to an instant replay of the announcement that she won! Why are they doing that?

And what was up with Sean Connery’s ascot? Ruffle froo-froo, at it’s finest!

The same night at SXSW that I told Tantek that CSS makes my eyes bleed, I spent time laughing to the point I almost made myself with Jessica. She posted a few days later about how the memories start to blur, but somehow I don’t think the memories of xylophone kitten will be forgotten any time soon.

We spent the afternoon at Tropica today – it was time for another H-Town Blogs gathering, and it was so great to have a chance to see Kathy & her husband Tom, Charles, David, Cody, Sydney (who was kind enough to share her chair with me), Matt and Mike. As Mike pointed out, meeting up with other bloggers in person puts a whole different spin on reading their sites. You can hear their voice better, get an even deeper glimpse in to their souls. I’m really glad I’ve had opportunities this month to do that with local bloggers and with people from across North America.

I am lucky, very lucky indeed.

Another gorgeous day outside, and I still love the view of downtown as I come over the viaduct bridge – everything is sparkling and crisp against the vibrant blue sky.

Sitting at a red light, I wondered why the woman in the car behind me was making such an odd face. Was she crying? Wait. Her mouth is wide open. She’s singing, with all her heart. Then she did it – she made the diva hand gesture! Yes, right there at the red light, hand in the air, almost like she was waving but not really. The diva move made me giggle and I amused myself by trying to figure out which Whitney Houston song she was belting out.

Heading off to bed and about to turn off the TV, I noticed that Conan O’Brien is talking about the Jesus Statues. Conan! Get with the program! I wrote about those almost a year ago (3/21/2002).

Maybe Conan’s writers need news readers and blog feeds (RSS 2.0 Rocks!) so he can stay on top of these things?

Well, if I can’t have a Buddy Jesus, at least there is always Boogie Jesus from Courtney, the Geeky Chick to keep me amused!

Speaking of amusement – Procter & Gamble discovered in a recent study that “consumers who fast-forward through ads with digital personal video recorders such as Tivo still recall those ads at roughly the same rates as people who see them at normal speed in real time.” I’m not surprised – I fast forward through many ads, but I can still recall most of the ones I’ve seen. Have I mentioned lately that I love my Tivo?
