According to this Los Angeles Times Editor’s Note, it seems that it is bad journalism to photoshop photos together to get the front page image you want to present. A hearty “way to go!” to the photographer, who was fired for what he did. [via Anil]

It Passed…
Remember that resolution (H. Res. 153) that I talked about the other day? Well, it passed. I get enough humility, prayer and fasting with my own religion (the one I chose), thankyouverymuch. I don’t need the government telling me I need more.
By the way – speaking of fasting and religion – it’s Friday. If you’re Catholic, you’re not supposed to eat meat today. (Because it’s also Lent.) This is your friendly public service announcement, because I always forget.
Does a Headset Help?
For many years I’ve wondered if talking on a cell phone really could cause cancer, and it seems now that scientists have found the first evidence of a link with brain cancer. “The study found that spending more than an hour a day on the phone increased the risk of a type of tumour known as acoustic neuroma by 30 per cent.” What the article doesn’t address is whether or not using a headset instead will help reduce the risks – but it doesn’t matter, I love using mine. By the way – to the jack monkey on the road this morning in Houston – driving a big-ass pickup truck, smoking a cigarette with one hand and holding a cell phone up to your head with the other – get a headset! The cell phone isn’t just dangerous because of the cancer risk, it’s dangerous because one of these days someone’s going to beat you with that phone and the cram it where the sun doesn’t shine…
Speaking of sunshine – it’s a gorgeous day outside. I took photos and if I ever stop long enough to upload them, I’ll share.
I Hate It…
I hate it when I’m right. Last night when I heard the news of Elizabeth Smart’s return home, I commented on how the whole situation still left me with a bad vibe. Last summer I just had a feeling that there was more to the story. This morning I commented to one of the attorneys at work that after seeing the clip of her walking behind Brian David Mitchell in a veil and face cloth, I wondered if she had been married to him. I hate it when I’m right about things like that.
She has been through a terrible ordeal, and it’s as if she was taken in to a cult or something similar. I am happy to see her reunited with her family, but it will be a long road to a normal life for her.
Now THAT Would be Interesting…
As if Bush isn’t having enough problems with the UN these days, could you imagine if he had to meet with Secretary-General Clinton? Just the thought of it makes me laugh. Loud. Over and over, in that manic sort of way… [via My Irony]
